I agree!

This is Brilliant. And it is even safe for work (and kids*) because they probably won't get half of it!

*Kid promise not guaranteed. Your mileage my vary.

I get the best things in my email!

Someone sent this to me today.

I'm not exactly sure what they were getting at........

Not so much

There are lots of jokes about law students......most of them are somewhat true. But, I'd never had an experience quite like this before.

We were sitting in the caf, talking about classes, when someone brought up the topic of exams. Kind of strange to be talking about exams in September, but whatever. This person, nice as can be, was talking about last semester when he ran across a group of 1Ls who were studying in that same cafeteria, and how he had to "set them straight" about whatever Torts they were doing. This led into a lengthy conversation amongst the group about, essentially, butting into conversations and study groups that didn't concern them because they had SO much more knowledge than those 1Ls. This also merged into a conversation about the elements of intentional torts.

I've never gotten up and walked completely away from a conversation before, but I did this time. Why do I want to spend my time, my free time no less, talking about intentional torts?! I don't. I definitely don't. And to listen to people go on and on about how smart they are and how they "set people straight"? Yeah, not so much.

What is it about law school students that makes them want to A. talk about the law at every opportunity and B. want to feel superior to people? I would say that they didn't have a life, but all of these people were married, some even with children. ANYTHING is more interesting than hearing about intentional torts!

Maybe they were looking at it as early bar review.

the moment you've all been waiting for

Or, you know, maybe not. Fall TV. I used to look forward to the new TV season so much more. I've missed out on all sorts of good things over the past three years. Heroes, Lost, Ugly Betty....I could go on. But, with some creative use of Tivo, I think I can swing it. Besides, if history if any judge, at least half of the shows I like won't make it the full season.

So, what am I watching this season? Three of my new favorite actors (Kevin McKidd, Damian Lewis, Jimmy Smits) are coming to a small screen near me this fall.

Mondays:
Journeyman. I'm a SF geek, so this one is no surprise. Add Kevin McKidd and Reed Diamond (best known from Homicide: Life on the Streets) and I'm more excited.

I'm interested in K*Ville......but I don't know if I can sustain the interest. Anthony Anderson was flat out perfection on his stint with The Shield. That is enough to make me Tivo it at least once. Cole Hauser is an interesting actor. I liked him best in Pitch Black. I'm not sure how much of this I'll watch. I'm hopeful, but not optimistic.

Tuesdays:
The Unit is a given. I LOVE that show. Love it.

Jimmy Smits in Cane is also a given. And Rita Moreno? Back on TV? I haven't been this excited about a show with a majority Latino cast since Resurrection Blvd.

And, while I like the Geico Cavemen commercials........yeah, I don't think so. An entire show? Not for me.

Wednesdays:
Criminal Minds -- Even though Mandy Patinkin is leaving (darn him) Shemar Moore isn't. And, yes, the Tivo will be working overtime because Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares is not to be missed.

I'm curious about Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. Okay, I'm curious about Taye Diggs in Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. You people never let me get away with nothin! Yet, its on at the same time as two other things I'm already setting the Tivo for. That means I would have to use real, live, videotape......I'm not sure. I'll wait and see how the buzz is before I go that route.

Life. I'll watch Damian Lewis in anything. No, really, this is true. The premise sounds good, and I'm a sucker for cop shows, but.....well, I'll watch Damian Lewis in anything. Adam Arkin only sweetens the deal. That reminds me: KP, if you haven't seen Forsyte Saga, you will LOVE it. Promise

CSI:NY. I adore this show. I didn't watch it faithfully, but I liked it every time I did watch it. Hill Harper. That's all I'm saying.

Thursdays:
I used to be such a Smallville fan. Now, I could care less. Won't be watching it.
Absolutely won't be watching Survivor. Haven't watched a show yet, won't be starting now.
I've seen a few eps of My Name is Earl, and I think its funny.....but I won't be watching that either.
I may watch Scrubs, but I almost prefer to watch the whole season on DVD instead of week to week. We'll see.
No CSI, No, Grey's Anatomy, No ER, No Without a Trace.

Thursday may be the only day I don't watch TV!

I'm still on the fence about Big Shots. I haven't seen a single ad for this show, so I haven't been able to get any kind of a feel for it. So far its just: The Guy from Alias, The Guy from The Practice, the Guy from West Wing and The Guy from Titus. IMDB says The Guy from The Dresden Files is also going to be joining the cast. That might be enough for me to at least check out a few episodes. I can't even tell you what its about!

Fridays:
Usually, wherever there is a vampire show, I'm there to watch it. I'm not so sure about Moonlight.

Stargate Atlantis -- I really don't like this show. I've tried. Over and Over again I've tried. I can't even tell you why I don't like it. It doesn't make any sense because Stargate was one of my favorite shows. But, I'm giving this a try. Again. Like I do every new season. Maybe some of the Stargate writers have taken over. Amanda Tapping is joining the cast.....Hope springs eternal.

What are ya'll watching this Fall?

Title of the Day

If not the week! I have had this stupid song in my head all damn day!

No, in case you're wondering, the library won't be buying it.

Charlie Brown Christmas - Performed by the Cast of Scrubs

This cracks me up.

thoughts I've had today

I need my own office. This is a thought I have everyday, but just thought I'd mention it.

Tomorrow is the last day for Interim Central. I did come to love that place.

I know more people who work at 10 W. Market St. than I thought possible. Is this like THE building to work in?

It is cold in here. I'm turning on my heater.

1.5 more hours, and then I am OUT of here for the day!

Thank God I won't have to drive around for an hour tonight looking for a place to park in the lot that I paid for. (this thought leads to ranting, so I'm cutting it off right now)

I absolutely love ALL of my classes this semester. And whoever told me to take Civil Rights (Chuck? KP?) I sincerely thank you.

Baseball season is both winding down (for the Sox) and winding up (for the playoffs). Yay.

Fantasy Football is underway. It was lots of fun last year mainly because I knew the participants in our league.....at least some of them. It's funny how I can go from completely not interested to big fan of something just by knowing the people involved. Friendly Wagers never hurt either.....isn't that right, Sean?

18 days until Alaska! I need to buy a coat......

2 hours until Cheesecake Factory......

Procrastination is a wonderful thing

Oh, don't pretend I'm the only one.

Happy day before Labor Day! There is a wonderful Mad Men marathon happening as we speak. Luckily for me, TIVO is taking care of that for me so I can watch it later tonight. Right now, its me, Aston Villa v. Chelsea, and Criminal Procedure notes from last Wednesday.

It is a gorgeous day and, I think, this is the first Sunday in MONTHS when I haven't had at least a breakfast and/or lunch and/or dinner engagement. Kind of depressing. I'm sure everything will be back to normal soon enough, but I had no idea how much I had been counting on those Sundays. Let that be a lesson to me to appreciate them more.

And, no sooner do I say that, do I decide to skip out on a Monday engagement at Bazbeaux in Broad Ripple. Nothing personal.

The prospect of Chelsea being shut out is making me damn near giddy! Probably not going to be anywhere on my Crim Pro final. But, maybe I can work a way to associate it with grounds for pre-trial detention......

Is anyone actually having FUN over the holiday?
