Quickies
Thanks, all, for your registration guidance. As usual, you all came through brilliantly. I'll be hitting you all up for Civil Rights outlines come November.......
Rabble Rouser has come back from the dead! Let the choir rejoice. And, he's back with the hotness that is Matt Damon in a Bourne Ultimatum trailer. Yes! I won't be watching that arm break vid, though. Just reading that small post about it made me shudder.
My cousin had cataract surgery yesterday. Yeah, they did the wrong eye. Seriously.

This is how I like my democrats!
It sure beats getting nailed for unprescribed Viagra!
I know, I know. There are a lot of gun hating democrats out there in the world.
I'm not one of them.

Ladies and Gentlemen: It's that time again!
That's right. The time for choosing classes for Summer and Fall! Yippeee!!!!!
Ahem.....right. So, for the summer, it looks like it is going to be (drum roll please) Church and State relations. I thought, briefly, about taking two classes this summer but I think I'm going to be a little busy for that. Hopefully.
So, for the fall: Labor Law, Crim Pro and......now I need your help. I'm waffling between Secured Transactions (during the day, but at a good time where I'll have absolutely no problem getting a parking spot. 12:45.) and Civil Rights (not during the day, and something I'm actually interested in.) Although, truthfully, ST doesn't sound all that bad. I know that ST is probably more beneficial. What do ya'll think? I'm sure someone has taken at least one of these two classes before. What's the 411?

darn you, Cameron
I'm not much of a Cameron Diaz fan. I don't detest her, I'm just not crazy about her. I can take her or leave her. You know. Anyway, I finally finished watching In Her Shoes, and I loved it. That's right. I. Loved. It. It was wonderful and she was wonderful in it. So there.

At the movies
It was better than I thought it would be. Highly entertaining, and, you know, Mark Wahlberg. Hard to go wrong there. Ned Beatty was a shit. Michael Peña was good. But, I usually like him too so, again, no surprise.
What WAS a surprise was that I paid $8.50 to see a movie at 4 in the effing afternoon.
Go see it. It was good.

SO, The Watchman. I really don't even know where to start. First of all, I couldn't put it down. I did put it down, because I had to sleep. But, I think I may have fallen asleep with it in my hands, actually. I know I woke up in the middle of the night to finish it. Yes, it was really that good.
If you haven't read any of these books before (The Elvis Cole series) shame on you. Remember all the things I said about George Pelecanos? Yeah, they apply here too. In fact, Pelecanos, Crais and Harlan Coben are my literary holy trinity. They're all different, they're all the same and they're all fantastic.
Anyway, the book. The only thing I really wasn't crazy about was the ending. Others will disagree with me, I'm sure, but I wanted a different ending. There were a couple new people in this book that I look forward to maybe seeing again. I almost wish I could forget I'd read the other books in the Elvis Cole series, and come to this book with a fresh set of eyes. You know, without all the backstore. I think it would be a completely different experience. After all, most of what you get out of reading a book is what you bring to it. It's a merger, not a lecture. Or, at least, good books are a merger between writer and reader. If you don't bring anything to it, you're not getting the full experience.

Idol chit chat
Since KP has abandoned us for the season (darn you!) I guess I have to be the supplier. Tuesday is late night, though, so I miss the first two or three almost consistently. I need to start recording it.
I missed both of the bottom two this week: Stephanie and Chris? Is that his name? He's kinda cute. What I saw in the recaps, he was pretty good. Stephanie is a good singer, but I admit to being bored to death with her.
I liked Blake, Phil, Melinda and Jordin. I was less than impressed with Lakisha, but I DETEST that Diamonds Are Forever song. No, I really do. No doubt 'kisha can sing. She could afford to have a bad week.
Gina. Gina, Gina, Gina. I like her. I do. She had two problems this week: One, she sang one of my absolute favorite Rolling Stones songs. Two, she sant one of my absolute favorite Rolling Stones songs badly. Well, okay, it was all right. But, I wish people could admit (at least to themselves if not out loud) that there are certain songs that can only be done by the person who did it. They aren't meant to be covered. Paint it Black is one of those songs. It isn't melodious and meant to be re-interpreted.......although I would like to hear Chad Kroeger give it a shot. It is Mick Jagger screaming at you for three minutes. Sometimes, he screams softly. Then, later, it gets louder. Love the song. I'm just saying. Gina chose unwisely and wow is she lucky she's still there.
Sanjaya. I don't even know what to say.
Chris. I can live without him and I don't think he was very good this week.

Can you get addicted
to myspace?
I have a myspace page now. I actually had one before, but I never used it. I mean, it was completely blank (except for the crap they put in for you.) But, after meeting some people on the cruise, they were all on and wanted to keep in touch. I went there to make a page and it told me I already had one. Who knew. Anyway, so I've been trying to spruce the place up a bit and it's fun. I don't think it'll ever really replace my baby here, though. I just..... I kind of got addicted looking for people I'd graduated with and seeing if they have pages.
There really is just not enough time in the day for all this crap!

A thin line between cutting edge and old news
By the time 50 cent's line of "street lit" books made it to the shelves, is it old news already? We'll see.
That book cover reminded me of the Bell Biv Devoe video for Poison
I was always more of a Bell fan, myself.
Out of all the political women in the campaign
Elizabeth Edwards has always been my favorite. Yes, I know she isn't running. But, truthfully, she's the one I liked most in 2004! I wished she had been running. Her husband is good too, but SHE is wonderful. :o) I hope everything turned out okay for her here.

say what?!
Oh yeah. I'm back. Boy do I have stories to tell you. I'll probably fix up the travel blog tonight or tomorrow with pictures. Internet service was .55/minute on the ship, and I wasted used most of mine checking emails from people instead of posting. And picture posting? Yeah, not so much. It would take forever.
They didn't tell me that I would wake up this morning and still feel like I was on the boat. No, seriously, there is a balance issue. While I'm sitting here. Typing. I know the house isn't moving......maybe we're having an earthquake. Maybe it'll be back to normal by later on today.
While I was gone there were new babies! Congrats to all involved there. She is absolutely adorable.
Oh yeah, and Bret Michaels had a birthday while I was gone. (I know you all care as much as I don't....) This bitch looks a hot mess at 44.
Damn right every rose has its thorn.

Gone Fishin
I'm in sunny Florida. Sunny, beautiful Florida. In between a Steak and Ale, a mall and a Waffle House. And I'm starving. I'm just sayin.....
Anyway, a friend of mine suggested a new blog with lots of travel photos. It's better than me emailing her everyday so if you're interested in cruise photos check out the new blog over here. There isn't much there yet, obviously, but hopefully I'll get better at this camera thing and have some really great pictures.

Cracking my S%$#@ up.
No, seriously.
I might have to check him out on SNL now. I hadn't planned on watching, but NOW.....well, it might be funny. I have to admit, I do crack up at his commercials.......

Invisiblogger
I know. I've been invisible girl lately. I'm still here, honest. 8 days from now I won't be here, I'll be in Tampa. 9 days from now I'll be sailing away from Tampa on a big ass ship. I'm not so sure how I'm going to like the cruise thing, but I'm giving it a try. How can you not like the Caribbean? I'm sure it'll be great. Or, it might be great......especially if I start packing sometime soon.
Anyway, I'm working on a recap of an interesting conference I went to last weekend. I had no idea what to expect but was not disappointed by Sunday afternoon when it was over. Lots of fun stories to tell, so maybe there will be a post up by the end of this weekend. I met a lot of people, and worked on my "Shake and Bake" networking skills which are, admittedly, atrocious. Librarians were not made for networking with real people!
Anyway, until then, I'm going back to the mines.

Seriously?
Larry Rosenthal, whose apartment was destroyed last October when late Yankees P Cory Lidle’s plane flew into an Upper East Side building, has filed a $7M lawsuit against the Lidle family. The suit states that Lidle was “reckless, careless and negligent in causing his plane to strike” the building (N.Y. POST, 3/2).
Okay, this has got to be the most disgusting thing ever. Yes, yes, I understand that they lost their apartment. Wasn't he insured? Lidle's family lost, well, Cory Lidle. Now they're being sued by some asshole for 7 million bucks?! For an f-ing apartment?! It isn't even for injuries. They WEREN'T EVEN HOME at the time of the accident! I'm not arguing that it wasn't negligent. It was negligent. Great. You win. You escaped with your life, and your insured items will be replaced. Move on. Don't be an asshole......oops, too late.
